So when in Canada, there are a few things I have to have, classic Canadiana, as it were. On that list (shortly after, but no less important than poutine) is the truly Canadian cocktail, the Caesar. For the uninitiated, a Caesar is basically a Bloody Mary, but instead of tomato juice, it uses clamato juice. For those of you who are unfamiliar with clamato juice, it is a tomato/clam juice concoction. Yes, it sounds weird, but it's delicious.

The garnishes are also important. Sure, celery is classic, but we have come so far in the Caesar garnish department. I'm particularly fond of a pickled bean, or a spear of pickled asparagus, but also don't mind when someone throws a strip of bacon in there either. And though Caesar purists might complain, I prefer a wedge of lemon to the standard lime.

I have definitely had a few Caesars since my return.

A perfect (to me) Caesar
