One of the byproducts of the eruption I was mentioning yesterday is some pretty unique geology, especially compared to neighboring islands. Greece drums up thoughts of white sandy beaches and blue seas. But in Santorini, the sand is black, thanks to the volcano, much to the dismay of the soles of my feet on a hot summer day. But I've spent so much time there in the last few years that white sand now seems astonishing when I see it!
Hard to believe this is 2.5 years ago already!
