When I returned to Egypt, spring was in full bloom. This apparently means jacaranda trees in glorious lavender bloom. I first saw jacarandas in Africa some 20+ years ago, and was as amazed by them then as I am now. Unfortunately, I have not managed to get a great photo of their glory, but imagine a whole big tree of this:
