Rakomelo

Continuing our mosaic jewelry tour of Greek drinks is Rakomelo. Rakomelo is the kinder, sweeter cousin of raki, which I introduced you to yesterday. It is raki mixed with honey, and spices to create more of a liquer than a liquor.
Honey is a major product in Greece, and a very common breakfast item is Greek yogurt with local honey. I eat this most mornings here. Honey is also found in many of the pasties, such as baklava, and even finds its way occasionally into traditionally savoury dishes. All hail Greek honey!!!
