There aren't many places where one can still stomp grapes as was done in years past. Only one vineyard on the island of Santorini⏤Gavalas Winery⏤still produces one of its wines in this traditional way. The call went out in late August for stompers, and a big party ensued with locals, tourists, traditional music by La Ponta, dancing and of course, wine. I had the good fortune of being on the island at that time, and had a marvelous afternoon, though I must admit the experience was much slimier and more slippery than anticipated.
