OUR VISION

Why is it that in Nature great diversity leads to great beauty, but when it comes to Civilization, diversity seems to be a problem, especially when people want to share the same garden? This Spring the Mosaica garden is ready to plant its first seeds with a Mosaica Day celebration.

Our vision is to ask people within our community to share a meal together and by so doing, also share their ideas, their culture, their values and their food. We hope through the simple pleasure of eating and talking together, people will discover some of their similarities, embrace some of their diversity, and develop friendships. Through these new friendships, we are hoping that working relationships can develope in order to take on new projects which can benefit the community.

Just imagine the possibilities for a community that is willing to embrace this vision.

WHY DO WE NEED THIS VISION?

We have witnessed events over the last few years that have caused fear and pain for people not only in our community, but around the world as well.

This fear has caused many to withdraw from their neighbors and become isolated. We need to understand this better in order to
start the healing process, to create a more civilized local as well
as global society.

We all have the common desire to be happy and free. Through dialog we will become more comfortable with our neighbors. Perhaps then the questions can be identified so that the answers can be worked on.

In many of our local communities, street violence is a major concern. We are witnessing an increase in gang violence, ethnic and religious hate crimes, crimes of sexual orientation.
Increasing law enforcement is great but it's not the answer. There needs to be a social conscience movement to "erase the hate". Government officials or the local police force, no matter how ambitious their agenda is in this area, cannot do it alone. The change must come from the community itself. We hope that
anyone who agrees with this will consider getting involved with Mosaica Day.

We are not born with hate and prejudices. These negative characteristics are taught and need to be untaught. We can
identify the basic needs and fears we all share and use that as a starting point. We can only hope that Mosaica Day will supply us with the tolerance that is needed.

For the Children…. We pick up the newspaper, turn on the T.V.,
go on the internet and we see what children are exposed to.
What school system would object to introducing Mosaica Day to their students? And to make it attractive to the kids, they get a day off from their regular classes for a day of Mosaica classes. A day
of "Opening Hearts to fill the Mind." What other holiday celebrates something as positive and inclusive as Mosaica Day. A day of positive change by learning more about the person they sit next to in the classroom. The Mosaica Day events can hopefully become classrooms of positive values.
